Who we are

TeknaByte Consulting, LLC ("TeknaByte," "we," "us") is a managed IT and managed security services provider based in Indianapolis, Indiana. This policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect personal information when you visit teknabyte.com, contact us, use our client portal or support channels, or work with us as a client.

This policy does not replace the confidentiality and data protection terms in a signed client agreement. Where the two differ, the client agreement controls.

Information we collect

Information you give us. When you submit a form on this site (such as a Free Cyber Risk Assessment or contact request), call or email us, open a support request, or accept a quote, we collect the information you provide, which may include your name, business email, phone number, company, job title, and the details you share about your needs.

Client service information. To deliver managed IT and security services, our team and tools access our clients' systems. That can include user names and contact details, device and network information, system and security logs, alerts, backups, and the content of support requests and tickets. We handle this information on our client's behalf and only to provide the services they engaged us for.

Phone calls. Calls with our office and support lines are recorded and may be transcribed so we can document requests, resolve issues, and train our team. Sensitive values spoken on a call, such as passwords, are masked in transcripts.

Information collected automatically. When you visit this site we collect limited technical information, such as your IP address, browser type, device, referring page, and how you interact with the site, through the cookies and tools described below.

How we use your information

We use personal information to respond to you and deliver what you asked for; to provide, monitor, secure, and support the services our clients engage us for; to detect and respond to security threats; to manage client accounts and billing; to send service, security, and account communications; to improve our services and this site; and to meet our legal, regulatory, and contractual obligations.

We follow up about our services only with people who asked to hear from us or whose business works with us, and you can opt out of that follow-up at any time.

Cookies and analytics

This site uses Google Tag Manager, Google Analytics 4, and Google Ads to understand traffic and measure marketing performance; Snitcher to identify business-level site visits; our own first-party analytics; and Cloudflare Turnstile to protect our forms from automated abuse. Form submissions are received and managed by our own systems. These services may set cookies and process data on our behalf.

You can control cookies through your browser settings. Disabling cookies may affect how parts of the site function.

Text messages (SMS)

TeknaByte Consulting sends text messages only to company-owned mobile phones that it issues to its own staff for on-call duty. These are internal on-call alerts, such as after-hours voicemails, missed after-hours calls, and critical alerts about the systems we monitor, and receiving them is part of the on-call role. We do not send marketing text messages, and we do not text customers or personal phones.

Message frequency varies, and message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out or HELP for help. The full SMS terms are in our Terms & Conditions.

We do not sell or share your SMS opt-in data or personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.

How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with service providers who help us operate our business and deliver our services (for example hosting, email, telephony and messaging, analytics, accounting, and the IT management and security platforms we use on our clients' behalf); with the distributors and vendors needed to fulfill an order you place with us; when a client directs us to; and where required by law or needed to protect the rights, safety, and security of our clients, our team, or others. These providers may use the information only to perform services for us.

Data security

As a managed security company, protecting data is our discipline. We apply administrative, technical, and physical safeguards appropriate to the information we hold. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information accordingly.

Data retention

We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes in this policy, the terms of our client agreements, and our legal, tax, and accounting obligations. After that we delete it or de-identify it.

Your choices and rights

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of the personal information you have provided, and you may opt out of marketing follow-up at any time. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under privacy laws, and we will respond to requests as those laws require. If you are a user at one of our clients, we may refer requests about information we process for your organization to that client. To make a request, contact us using the details below.

Children's privacy

This site and our services are for businesses and are not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the date below. Material changes will be reflected on this page.
